our vendors
Here are some of the businesses that help us do business.
American Express
small-business credit cards
With our American Express business credit cards, it's very easy to track our company's expenses — as well as keep business expenses separate from personal ones in the first place. They offer great reward programs, especially if you fly Delta. The OPEN Forum is a great source of advice — you'll hear from both industry experts and fellow cardholders. When we travel to faraway locales, our cards help give us truly global reach. But most of all, our AmEx cards look good in our wallets and make us feel like grownups.
Intuit QuickBooks
accounting software
QuickBooks Online has probably saved us thousands of dollars in accounting fees. It's great to be in such full control of our bookkeeping, our payroll, and our taxes. Plus, the financial statements and other reports help us make better business decisions. It's completely web-based, so we can access it at any time on any computer, just like any other website. Plus, we won't lose any of our accounting data if we spill coffee on a laptop. And when we're away from our beloved computers, we get our QuickBooks fix via iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android.
Steadfast Networks
web hosting
Steadfast is great on a small scale, a large scale, or a Super Big Gulp scale. For 5 USD per month you can host as many domains, databases, and e-mail addresses as you want. For 110 USD per month you can have your own dedicated server, and they'll help point you in the right direction for getting it up and running (operating system, control panel, web-server software, etc.). At the higher levels, you can keep adding to your processing power and bandwidth practically endlessly, plus they can help you cluster your servers together.
37signals
project-management tools
Once your project or business gets to a certain level of complexity, the online products offered by 37signals will be a godsend. Which product you choose will depend on what you most vitally need to organize: tasks, contacts, information, or communication itself. Our to-do lists in their Basecamp product contain several hundred neatly organized items — including the task of drafting the very text on this webpage! Their blog, called Signal vs. Noise, keeps them in close touch with their customers.
